Creation of Works Cast in Bonded Powders

This sequence of pictures illustrates the process of creation for the Female Wine Stopper cast in bonded marble. The first step of the process of creating a work in bonded powders is sculpting the original work.
u

Original sculpture used to create the mold for Female Wine Stopper.

After a sculpture has been created in clay, a latex "Glove Mold" is created from the sculpture.

Here the glove mold is used to make a "Mother Mold," a two-part plaster casting.
Plaster is mixed with hemp fiber to create a strong mold.
This is the casting of the second piece of the mother mold.
The two pieces of the hemp-plaster mother mold are joined.
Forming a completed mother mold for Female Wine Stopper cast in bonded marble.
